This course is offered in Norwegian but can be delivered in English if requested.
The course is to enable the professional junior senior drilling staff and the rig maintenance team gain the necessary knowledge with regard to surface and subsea well control equipment and wellheads. To give an introduction to API standards for above the wellhead equipment which is used in the drilling process and to learn examples of the dimensioning of systems, according to industry standards.
Content
Instruction in the most common systems used in connection with drilling surface wells and subsea wells including:
- Mechanical systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Electric systems
- Exercises with the interactive well control simulator
- Practical exercises on the Drillsim 5000 full-scale simulator
- API specifications for well control equipment
- API specifications and recommended practises for Bop Control Systems
- Dimensioning of accumulator cylinders for BOP stacks
- API connection types and ring gaskets
- Oilfield terminology
Objectives
To be able to:
- Obtain information from various API publications
- Understand operation and pressure testing of BOP equipment
- Understand the use of manual and hydraulic chokes
- Calculate accumulator cylinder usable volume
- Perform shut in methods on Drillsim 5000 simulator as described in API RP 53
- Describe and understand the use of the various components in a BOP control system
- Obtain sufficient knowledge about the course content to pass a written test with minimum 70% score
Admission requirements
Have Drilling Technology 1, Drilling Technology 2, Basic Mathematics and Drilling Calculations certificates.
