The course will provide you with a fundamental understanding of rules and

regulations, for transportation of dangerous goods by sea, including identification and

classification of goods, appropriate packing and labelling, and stowage and

segregation. Thereby, allow you to perform your duties safely and efficiently, with

regards to handling of dangerous goods in both daily operations, and in emergency

situations.

Learning objectives

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

· Define, identify, and classify dangerous goods.

· Identify legislation and regulations relevant to transport of dangerous goods by sea.

· Demonstrate knowledge of requirements for shipping dangerous goods by sea, including packing and packing groups, labelling, and required documentation.

· Identify requirements for loading, stowage, and segregation.

· Identify emergency procedures and recall how to use them.

Assessment criteria

The course is concluded with a multiple-choice exam with 25 questions. You require a

minimum score of 80% to pass. 

You will have three months to complete the course.
