Slinger Refresher

Purpose

Skilled and competent Deck Operator Signallers and Slingers are key to accident prevention and ensuring lifting operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

This course will refresh and update the fundamental knowledge elements required to perform Lifting Operations safely and according to Norwegian standards, regulations & within equipment limitations.
 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion the course you will have demonstrated your knowledge within:

• The relevant & revised standards applicable for offshore Lifting Operations
  • The Definitions relevant to Lifting operations as laid out in Norsok R-003: 2017
  • Requirements for Lifting Equipment as defined in Norsok R-002: 2017

  • Revised Planning requirements Norsok R-003:2017 Section 4.5
  • Revised Roles and Responsibilities Norsok R-003:2017 Annex A
• Lifting Operations
  • Revised requirements for the Safe Execution of Lifting Operations Norsok R-003: 2017 Section 4.8
  • Refresher of the Safe use, Maintenance criteria, and Certification and Discard criteria for Lifting Gear
• Lifting Equipment
  • Avoidance of overloads due to incorrect planning / equipment overload
  • Avoidance of equipment damage due to incorrect slinging
  • Guidance on the Practical Safe use of Lifting Equipment

Assessment

• Course is concluded with an unsupervised multiple choice exam with 25 questions.
• A minimum score of 80% is required to pass.

The course is aimed at individuals involved in the use of lifting equipment who need to refresh their knowledge of how to perform these safely and within Norwegian standards and regulations.
