Target group
Seafarers that have completed a Basic safety and emergency preparedness course
according to Offshore Norge’s guidelines and wishes to fulfill the requirements for a
STCW Basic safety training course.
Content
• Emergency situations and evacuation
• Survival crafts and rescue boats
• Personal rescue means and techniques
• Fire prevention theory
• Use of smoke diving equipment when firefighting
• First aid
• Personal safety
Learning objectives
On completion of the course the participant will be able to demonstrate competence according
to STCW tables A-VI/1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4.
Prerequisites
The participant must document valid Basic safety and emergency preparedness
course according to guidelines set by Offshore Norge.
Assessment criteria
To pass the course you must have 80% correct answers on the written exam.
In addition, all requirements for the practical exercises must be met.
The participant will be observed by an instructor during practical exercises.
The instructor shall make sure that the participants have the minimum
required knowledge, understanding and competence through observation and
judgement of the practical exercises.
Duration
2 days + 5,5 hours e-learning
Certificate validity
On completion the STCW course certificate will be issued with expiry date according to
the issue date (plus 5 years) of the Offshore Norge course certificate.
Clothing
All participants must bring their own woolen underwear or other non-synthetic
underwear for use during practical exercises.
