From August 15, 2025, the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) will take over the responsibility for issuing Certificates of Proficiency.

kaptein
For course participants, this means that you are personally responsible for applying for the certificate with the NMA after completing the course. Maersk Training will notify the NMA of completed courses after the course has ended.

Participants will receive a course certificate, but this does not replace the requirement to apply for a Certificate of Proficiency. Certificates will be made available electronically via the app “NMA Seafarer” and on “My Page Seafarer”. Physical certificates will no longer be issued.

To make the process easier, we have implemented a few changes at our training centers:

  • In the message sent before the start of the course, we remind participants of this change and that they must retrieve their certificate in the app.

  • We have posted informational posters at our centers to remind everyone of the change.

  • We have added a slide to all relevant courses and inform participants at the start of the course about the certificate change.

You can read more about this in the article from the Norwegian Maritime Authority here.
