Target group
The course is for individuals who will work in a confined space environment.
Content
There are incidents where a staggering number of workers are killed or seriously injured
every year in confined spaces. This is often due to lack of knowledge or training with
associated risks in working within a confined space. This course will provide the
awareness to people working in a confined space and intended for personnel across the
energy sector who require an awareness of the risks, hazards and equipment associated
with confined spaces.

· Recognition of confined spaces
· Dangers associated with confined spaces
· Appreciation of the different types of atmospheres
· Use of gas detection equipment in hazardous atmospheres
· Diseases and personal hygiene associated with confined spaces
· Use of Personal Protection Equipment, i.e., ropes, harnesses and man riding hoists
· Different types of full working
· Breathing Apparatus and ancillary equipment
· Safe systems of work for entry into confined spaces
· Methods of communication
· Manning levels
· Emergency procedure

Assessment criteria
At the end of the e-learning course, the participant will conduct a theoretical test. If the
participant is considered to not meet the competency requirements, they will fail the course.
