HSE COURSE FOR THE MARITIME SECTOR – 40-HOUR SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE COURSE
This 40-hour course provides participants with the necessary training in safety and environmental work on board ships. The course is developed in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on Working Environment, Safety and Health for Workers on Ships (ASH), particularly Section 5-14, and forms the basis for carrying out the role of Safety Representative in the maritime sector. Through a combination of e-learning and webinars (or in-person sessions at a training center), participants receive a practical and relevant introduction to HSE work tailored to the maritime environment.

Course format: Combination of webinars and e-learning

This 40-hour course provides participants with the necessary training in safety and environmental work on board ships. The course is developed in accordance with the Regulations on Working Environment, Safety and Health for Workers on Ships (ASH), particularly Section 5-14, and provides the foundation required to perform the role of Safety Representative in the maritime sector.

Through a combination of e-learning and webinars (or on-site sessions at a training center), participants gain a practical and relevant introduction to HSE work tailored to the maritime environment.

Content:

  • Working environment and safety culture on board
  • Risk assessment and preventive measures
  • Roles and responsibilities of safety representatives and management
  • Working environment legislation and the ASH regulations
  • Chemical handling and protection against pollution
  • Reporting of non-conformities and incidents
  • Communication and collaboration in HSE work

Scope:
Total of 40 hours – divided between e-learning and webinars/classroom sessions.

Purpose:
Upon completion of the course, participants will have the competence required to:

  • Perform the role of Safety Representative on board
  • Actively contribute to a safe and sustainable working environment
  • Identify and manage risk factors in a systematic way
  • Understand and apply the requirements of the ASH regulations related to HSE training and working conditions

Certification:
Participants will receive a certificate of completion after successfully completing the course. The certificate has no expiry date, as the competence is considered maintained through ongoing HSE work on board.
Regulations of 1 January 2005 No. 8 relating to Working Environment, Safety and Health for Workers on Ships (ASH), Section 5-14.
