Restricted Operators Certificate (ROC/GMDSS) course (Norwegian)

Target group

The course is conducted in accordance with regulations on qualifications and certificates for seafarers who will operate the GMDSS system on vessels operating within sea area A1.

• Antennas and technical systems
• Communication requirements (VHF)
• VHF with DSC
• Calling procedures – routine communication
• Radio watchkeeping
• Distress, urgency, and safety procedures
• NAVTEX – MSI messages
• Regulations
• Publications and documentation
• Power supply (emergency batteries)
• Portable emergency radio equipment

Prerequisites

Participants must be at least 18 years old before an ROC certificate can be issued.

Assessment criteria

Certificates are issued to participants over 18 years of age who, by passing the examination, have demonstrated that they meet the required competence standards.

The ROC examination consists of two parts: a written test and a practical/oral assessment.

Course duration

5 days (40 hours)

Validity of the course

ROC/GMDSS certificates must be renewed every 5 years.

Course locations

Courses are offered at our locations in Stavanger, Bergen, Haugesund, Kristiansund, and Grimstad.

Preferred date and location can be selected in the course calendar.

Payment options

Payment can be made upon registration or on arrival. We also offer payment via Vipps or invoice.

Examination fee included

This basic course includes both a final theoretical and practical/oral examination conducted by an external public examiner from Telenor Maritime Radio.

Upon passing both parts, participants will be issued a Telenor radio certificate. The public examination fee (NOK 2,394) is included in the course price.

08:30 unless otherwise stated in the course confirmation. Please double-check your confirmation.

Remember to bring valid identification.

Clothing

All participants must bring wool or non-synthetic undergarments.
