Course Content

The course focuses on the core responsibilities of the Incident Site Manager. Emphasis is placed on coordination of efforts between the different functional leaders (medical, fire/rescue, and technical) and on communication routines between the incident site and the central emergency management on the installation.

The course primarily consists of:

• Leadership and decision‑making in emergency situations
• Situation assessment with focus on response prioritisation
• Allocation of own resources and issuing of orders
• Incident site management and coordination
• Communication systems and procedures
• Situation reports
• Stress and crisis management
• Securing and normalisation of the incident site
• Practical exercises followed by debrief

The course can be customised to suit the individual client, organisation, or installation. Participants will train against an exercise control team and/or actual emergency response teams. Exercises are based on standardised scenarios or company‑specific defined hazards and accident situations (DFU).

Upon Completion of the Course

Norwegian Oil and Gas (OER108)

In accordance with the guidelines for course OER108, participants shall have the knowledge and skills required to lead and coordinate available resources at an incident site during an emergency situation.

Prerequisites

• Familiarity with the structure of the participant’s own emergency preparedness organisation is advantageous
• Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training
• Search and Rescue Team basic course or registered nurse
• VHF/SRC certificate

Assessment Criteria

Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not pass the practical training, a justification will be provided.

Following completion of the course, participants must pass a theoretical test. Participants who do not meet the required competence standards will not be certified.

The course certificate is valid for 2 years.

The course is offered at our locations in Stavanger, Bergen, Haugesund, Kristiansund, and Grimstad.

Attendance

All courses normally start at 10:00 on the first course day, unless otherwise stated in the course confirmation.
On subsequent days, attendance is at 08:30.

Clothing

All participants must bring wool underwear or non‑synthetic base layers.
