Search and Rescue Basic Course (Norwegian)

Target Group

Personnel who are to serve as members of a Search and Rescue Team.

Course Content

• Emergency preparedness and organisation
• First aid
• Patient assessment
• Fire theory
• Extinguishing agents
• Firefighting equipment
• Firefighting and containment
• Physiology
• Compressed air and other smoke diving equipment
• Search and rescue (smoke diving)
• Gases and pressurised fluids
• Mental reactions and stress management (accidents and disasters)
• Rescue operations during fire

Upon Completion of the Course

Upon completion of the course, participants shall possess the necessary knowledge and skills to fight fires using available equipment on platforms and vessels.
Through theory and practical training, participants will gain a clear understanding of both equipment limitations and their own limitations.

Prerequisites

• Basic Safety Training
• Personnel with smoke diving duties in a Search and Rescue Team must present valid documentation of:
  • Medical examination
  • Physical tests (fitness and strength requirements)

In accordance with Norwegian Oil and Gas guidelines.

Assessment Criteria

Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not pass the practical training, a justification will be provided.

Following completion of the course, participants must pass a theoretical test. Participants who do not meet the required competence standards will not be certified.

Course Duration

• Classroom and practical training: 5 days
• E‑learning and practical training: E‑learning + 3 days

Course Validity

The course certificate is valid for 2 years.

Course Location

The course is offered at our locations in Stavanger, Bergen, Haugesund, Kristiansund, and Grimstad.

Preferred date and location can be selected from the course list.

Payment Options

Payment is made upon registration or on arrival.
We also offer payment via Vipps or invoice.

Attendance

All courses normally start at 10:00 on the first course day, unless otherwise stated in the course confirmation.
On subsequent days, attendance is at 08:30.

Remember to bring valid identification.

Clothing

All participants must bring wool underwear or non‑synthetic base layers.

Included in the Price

Lunch is included in the course fee and is served every day.
