Search and Rescue Refresher Course (Norwegian)

Target Group

This is a refresher course for personnel who serve as members of a Search and Rescue Team.

Our Instructors

Our experienced instructors have extensive industry experience and create a safe and confidence‑building learning environment during practical exercises.

Course Content

A representative selection of content from the basic course, adapted to the participants’ prior knowledge, with strong emphasis on practical training and exercises, including:

• Emergency preparedness and organisation
• First aid
• Patient assessment
• Fire theory
• Extinguishing agents
• Firefighting equipment
• Firefighting and containment
• Physiology
• Compressed air and other smoke diving equipment
• Search and rescue (smoke diving)
• Gases and pressurised fluids
• Mental reactions and stress management (accidents and disasters)
• Rescue operations during fire

Upon Completion of the Course

Upon completion of the course, participants shall have maintained and further developed the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for their emergency response role.

Prerequisites

• Search and Rescue Team basic course or
  Fire Extinguishing Leader in accordance with STCW Table A‑VI/3
• Personnel with smoke diving duties in a Search and Rescue Team must present valid documentation of:
  • Medical examination
  • Physical tests (fitness and strength requirements)
• In accordance with Norwegian Oil and Gas guidelines.
• Personnel who have not served in an emergency response role and have not completed emergency response training or equivalent education/training within the last five years must complete a new basic course.

Assessment Criteria

Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not pass the practical training, a justification will be provided.

Following completion of the training, participants must pass a theoretical test. Participants who do not meet the required competence standards will not be certified.

2 days (16 hours)

Course Validity

The course certificate is valid for 2 years.

Course Location

The course is offered at our locations in Stavanger, Bergen, Haugesund, Kristiansund, and Grimstad.

Preferred date and location can be selected from the course list.

Payment Options

Payment is made upon registration or on arrival.
We also offer payment via Vipps or invoice.

Attendance

All courses normally start at 10:00 on the first course day, unless otherwise stated in the course confirmation.
On subsequent days, attendance is at 08:30.

Clothing

All participants must bring wool underwear or non‑synthetic base layers.
